Grand Cayman

Sea turtles, stingrays, sea stars, and sunsets! Welcome to the Cayman Islands!

  • Spring Break 2017 called for another trip to the Caribbean. This year, we decided on visiting Grand Cayman. Grand Cayman is the largest of the three Cayman Islands. Grand Cayman is known for it’s , relaxing white sand beaches, colorful reefs in crystal clear water, delicious dining options, as well as fun nightlife. It’s no question that Grand Cayman is the ideal island to spend spring break!
  • Highlights from our trip to Grand Cayman included: swimming with stingrays, selfies with turtles, posing with starfish, and sunsets on the beach with delicious cocktails and family.

ACTIVITIES

  • Six Sense Cayman Adventures:  For your ultimate animal-filled snorkel excursion, I highly recommend booking your island tour Six Sense Cayman Adventures. This snorkel boat is on the smaller side, with room for just about 12 passengers onboard. It is the perfect way to see the well-known attractions on the island, without the hustle and bustle of a large snorkel boat. Our guides took us to Starfish Point, Rum Point, and Stingray City. The crew knew the ideal times for us to visit each of these locations without having to deal with the crowds from other tour groups. Swimming with stingrays was definitely the highlight of our day trip!

  • Kitesurf Cayman is the company my family choose to rent our kiting gear from, and we had an overall smooth experience working with them! Our rental equipment was ready to go upon arrival and the instructors were knowledgeable about the area we would be kiting in. The wind in Grand Cayman is on-shore and steady, making the conditions ideal for jumping and other tricks! I had some of my best kiting sessions I have ever had while on this beach!

  • Spotts Beach was one of my favorite beach locations on the entire island. This hidden gem of a beach is filled with wild turtles that you can swim with! Grab your underwater cameras and be sure to snap some selfies with these amazing creatures. I loved this beach so much, we went back to it twice during the trip. It was unreal!

  • Cayman Turtle Farm: Still haven’t got your turtle fix? Be sure to check out the Cayman Turtle Farm, which is home to over 11,000 Green Sea Turtles. Take a tour through this educational turtle farm which sheds light on the conservation of these amazing animals while allowing guests to interact with the wildlife. Guests can enjoy a swim with fish and turtles in the salt-water lagoon. However, my favorite part was getting a chance to hold some of the adorable baby turtles.

DINNER AND DRINKS

  • Mudslides at Rum Point: Be sure to check out Rum Point for a lively atmosphere, yummy appetizers, and colorful picture spots! Rum Point is especially known for their dangerously delicious chocolate mudslides.  It was a must-have during our visit!

  • Cocktails at Cocoloba: Cocoloba restaurant is located at the Kimpton hotel. If is the ideal setting for enjoying cocktails on the beach while enjoying the sunset right in front of you. It quickly became our favorite “sundowner” tradition each night of the trip.

  • Avecita in the Kimpton Seafire Resort is a one-of-a-kind “chef’s table” experience. Each course is a surprise! Sit back and enjoy watching a crew of skilled and personable chefs cook right in front of you. Chef Remy and his team created some amazing small plates! They were even kind enough to let me step behind the table at the end of the meal for a photo with them. Such a fun night!
  • Sunshine Grill: Stop by for the best fish tacos on the island!
  • Royal Palms: Enjoy a delicious meal with ocean front dining under beautiful white canopies.
  • Calico Jacks: End the night at this lively beach bar! There is a fun mix of locals and tourists to chat with. Don’t miss the DJ on the weekends! Drinks and dancing were on point as well!

WHERE TO STAY?

  • Kimpton Seafire Resort is a beautiful newly renovated hotel located on Seven Mile Beach. The incredible beachfront, modern decor, and delicious variety of dining options made for the most relaxing and enjoyable stay on Cayman. From the moment we arrived, we felt extremely welcomed by the attentive staff members. The Kimpton Seafire was a dream!

ALL IN ALL…

Grand Cayman was the complete package: relaxation, fine dining, animal experiences, and unique activities to enjoy all around the island. Grand Cayman will definitely be on my list of destinations I would love to visit again!
